EU GDPR
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a comprehensive data protection law that took effect on May 25, 2018, throughout the European Union (EU). The purpose GDPR is to protect the privacy and personal information of EU citizens and residents. The GDPR applies to any organization, wherever it may be located, that handles personal data of individuals within the EU.
The GDPR defines personal data broadly, including identifiers like names, email addresses, IP addresses, and even cookie data. Organizations are required by the law to have a valid reason for gathering and using personal data, and they must put strong security measures in place to safeguard this data. GDPR gives citizens more control over their personal data, allowing them to access information about data collection procedures, seek data deletion or modification, and understand how their data is used.
