The DPDP Act specifies the rights of data principals (people whose data is being processed) and the responsibilities of data fiduciaries (organizations handling the data). The DPDP Act emphasize the importance of transparency, accountability, and fair usage of personal data. It mandates organizations to obtain explicit consent before processing data and to use it only for lawful purposes. To ensure compliance and address grievances, the Act has established the Data Protection Board of India. This regulatory body is empowered to enforce the law, investigate violations, and impose penalties for non-compliance.
